No historic tour to Ethiopia is complete without a visit to Lalibela, home of 11 rock hewn churches and one of the first
places to be declared a World Heritage Site. Each church was cut into the stone more than 900 years ago.

Gondar Gondar was the capital of the Ethiopian Empire from the 17th century and
is distinguished by its castles, imperial compound and churches.

Axum Axum is home to the stellae, tombs and castles of kings, and the Axum museum.
The Mariamtsion Church is reputed to be built on the site of the first Christian church in Ethiopia. The Ark of the Covenant
is said to be housed in a separate building in the same compound.

Bahar Dar On the Southern tip of Lake Tana sits the town of Bahar Dar. From this site you will travel
to the source of the Blue Nile, Ethiopia's link to the ancient world, known as Blue Nile Falls or Tis Abay (water that smokes).
A separate boat trip will bring you to many island monasteries.
